Can we bypass the Talking Jobs login and link to directly from our VLE/Intranet?
YES! Go to the Getting Started page and choose>Administrator or ICT person>I want to link to Talking Jobs from a VLE/Intranet. This page provides a dedicated URL (a token) for you to embed in your web page. Also provided is a zip file with Talking Jobs logos in various sizes and formats. In addition, this URL (a token) was sent by email to the Primary and ICT Contacts when the licence was set-up.
How do you control the player?
To find out how the player works, launch the player itself and open the ‘Help’ screen using the tab found above the drop-list of jobs. This ‘Help’ panel also carries 'Session Settings' options along with information about the 'Keyboard Controls' also available.
Teachers can see the videos playing yet students can’t – what’s happening?
Talk to your ICT support staff and explain the problem. It may be necessary for them to change the standard student access priveleges adding www.talkingjobs.net to a list of managed websites before students will be able to see the videos.
What screen resolution has the player been designed for?
The player has been designed for screen resolution of 1024 X 768 but should scale to all other desktop resolutions. The whole player interface should be visible at all times without scrolling.
What can we do if video playback is slow?
As there are a number of variables associated with video playback we recommend you talk to your ICT staff about your network capacity to run this kind of resource. if you have the opportunity, ask them to run a quick test as part of the lesson planning process.

"Talking Jobs is an amazing resource, quite unlike any other work related resource I have come across... It goes beyond the simple job description and qualifications needed and gives students the sort information they could get if they actually met the individuals and knew all the right questions to ask them..."
